Irrigation season ends Monday

| October 20, 2016 1:00 AM

QUINCY — The Quincy-Columbia Basin Irrigation District will make its last water deliveries to farmers in the Columbia Basin on Oct. 23.

The following Monday, Oct. 24, the district will turn off water at the head of the West Canal, and all water deliveries from the irrigation system will stop, according to Melanie Miller, an administrative assistant with the district.

Friday, Oct. 20, will be the last day for farmers to change their water deliveries. Whatever they request from the district will run through Monday, when the system is shut off, Miller said.

During the course of an irrigation season, Miller added some farmers change their water deliveries almost every day.

Water users who have questions or concerns should contact the local ditchrider or area watermaster.
