EPHRATA — Girls soccer in the Central Washington Athletic Conference continued to baffle Tuesday.

Ephrata outlasted Othello 1-0, which coupled with Selah’s win over Ellensburg created a five-way tie for first place.

“It’s all probably going to come down to who beat who head to head,” Ephrata head coach Hillary Coomes said.

Katelyn Ostrowski’s goal off an assist from Jayda Harmon in the 13th minute stood up. Othello goalie Jenelle Garza kept Ephrata’s advantage at one goal with multiple spectacular saves.

The Tigers had 14 shots on goal.

“The defense did a great job, but we were able to put a lot of pressure up front as well,” Coomes said.

The game-tying goal by Nikki Velazquez was disallowed due to a controversial offsides penalty.

“This is a big time frustrating loss,” Othello head coach Bernie Garza said.

Ephrata finishes its regular season Thursday against Prosser, one of the five teams tied for first. Othello travels to Toppenish, who are just 1-7 in league play, on Thursday.

Denali Knowles played a ball near the Davis net that Skone was able to toe punch past the goalie.

Davis led 1-0 at halftime before Skone scored in the 59th minute.

WARDEN — Mabton did not have any active players and forfeited its game with Warden.

ROYAL CITY — Ana Hernandez’s goal in the 33rd minute was the difference as Connell edged Royal 1-0.

“We played tough and had chances, but didn’t find the net early in the match when the chances were stacking up and we had Connell on their heels,” head coach Jens Jensen said.

The loss eliminated Royal from the postseason.
