Cathy Jo Cox, 64, a resident of Soap Lake, Wash., passed away after a short and courageous battle with cancer on Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2016 in Soap Lake at McKay Rehabilitation Center with family by her side.

Cathy was born in Burlington, Wash. on April 24, 1952 to Ross and Irene (Anderson) Cox. Cathy lived life to the fullest surrounded by family, friends and her animals. She enjoyed spending time with family. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, especially sharing her love of animals, taking them camping and fishing. She loved going to sporting events of her grandchildren and great nieces and nephews or going to family barbecues. Cathy loved visiting with friends, playing cards, going to rodeos and the sale yard. She also loved to travel to see family and friends, especially her trips to Grassy Plains, Takysie Lake and Fort Fraser, British Columbia and Paisley, Ore. Cathy enjoyed sharing stories of her time living in Canada and her adventures in Paisley. Most of all Cathy loved being outside, whether it be gardening, working with her animals, hunting, or fishing. Cathy’s love for life, her willingness to always help out a friend in need, and her welcoming smile will be greatly missed.

Cathy is survived by her son Rob (Shannon) Rickert and two grandchildren Kendra and Cole Rickert, all of Moses Lake, Wash. She is also survived by her two brothers Randy (Connie) Cox of Sedro Woolley, Wash. and Tim Cox (Kay Pratt) of Wilbur, Wash. In addition, Cathy is survived by four nieces Sarah (Ken) Barnes, Jenni Cox, Katy (Rod) Roth and Cari (Arnold) Mullinax and one nephew Dan (Erin) Cox; six great-nieces and two great-nephews. She is preceded in death by her mother and father and her great-nephew.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Dec. 3, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Nicoles Funeral Home, 157 C St. N.W., Ephrata, Wash.
