Royal High names October's students of the month
ROYAL CITY — The educational staff at Royal High School has chosen Alisha Dorsing, Olivia Mendoza, Vanesa Prado and Elisha Sanchez as the school’s October students of the month.
The SOM are chosen from a list of nominations presented by Counselor Jennifer McCoy. The nominations are based on several personal attributes, such as leadership and citizenship.
The freshman Alisha Dorsing was nominated for being “a good, quiet leader, academically, within the classroom.” Her parents are Kevin and Wanda Dorsing.
Alisha’s favorite movie is “The Book Thief.” She likes to eat pie, and her favorite activities are pottery, arts and crafts.
“Let your smile change the world,” by Sadie Robertson is Alisha’s favorite quote.
The sophomore Olivia Mendoza was nominated for her “excellent work ethic, willing to learn and kind to others.” She is the daughter of Ernesto and Rosalva Mendoza.
Olivia’s favorite movie is “Percy Jackson: The Lightning Thief.” She likes the TV show “The Flash.” Her favorite song is “If I Could Fly” by One Direction, and she loves spaghetti. She likes football and track and field.
Olivia’s favorite quote, which comes from Ed Sheehan, is “Be nice to everyone. Always smile and appreciate things because it could all be gone by tomorrow.”
Olivia is inspired by Perrie Edwards “because she shows me how being myself can lead to amazing things, than to be fake and be noticed as non-existent.”
“Don’t be a follower. Be a leader,” Olivia advises.
The junior Vanesa Prado was nominated for “Good work ethic, responsible student.” Her parents are Neftali Prado and Marisol Reyes.
Vanesa’s favorite movie is “The 5th Wave.” She loves to eat enchiladas, and drawing is her favorite activity.
Venesa’s favorite quote is: “Don’t wait for the perfect moment. Take the moment and make it perfect.”
The senior Elisa Sanchez was nominated for “positive attitude, works hard to be successful.” She is the daughter of Jose and Margarita Sanchez.
Elisa’s favorite movie is “Wall-E,” she likes the TV show “Paw Patrol,” and she’ll eat just about any Mexican dish. Her favorite song is “We Don’t Talk Anymore” and she likes to play Mario Kart.
“All right” is the simple saying Elisa prefers. She is inspired by her teachers “because they are awesome.” She says, “good luck, have a great year.”
