Boys basketball, adult dodgeball at Moses Lake Parks and Rec

MOSES LAKE — Dodgeball for grownups and basketball fundamentals for grade-school-age boys will be among the classes offered through Moses Lake Parks and Recreation after the Thanksgiving holiday.

The “Little Dribblers” basketball program actually begins Saturday, and is open to boys in kindergarten through sixth grade. Practice is from 10 to 11 a.m. every Saturday in December and January, except Dec. 24 and 31. Cost is $47, and includes a participant T-shirt.

John Hohman is the instructor; Hohman is the basketball coach at Moses Lake High School. Practices are in the Chief gym at MLHS.

Classes are designed to teach kids “the basic fundamentals of basketball with an emphasis on sportsmanship and enthusiasm for the sport,” according to a press release from Parks and Rec. Kids who wear their Little Dribblers T-shirts to the MLHS-Eisenhower game Jan. 20 will be admitted free.

Games in the adult dodgeball league are scheduled for 8 to 9:30 p.m. Monday and Wednesday from Dec. 5 through 28. “The rules are the same as when you played it in elementary school,” the press release said. Teams consist of six to 10 players.

The schedule consists of “multiple mini-games” each night. The season concludes with a tournament on the final night, it said.
