Deputy fires weapon during Moses Lake call

MOSES LAKE — A Grant County Sheriff’s Office deputy reportedly fired their weapon during a call in Moses Lake early Saturday morning.
About 6:30 a.m. MACC Dispatch received a 911 panic alarm coming from a mobile home at the Harvest Manor Estates, off of Airway Drive Northeast in Moses Lake. A deputy with the Grant County Sheriff’s Office responded to the trailer and reportedly saw through a window a person inside the home holding a gun, according to sheriff’s office spokesperson Kyle Foreman.
The deputy issued commands to the unidentified person and at some point during the confrontation the deputy fired a single round from their service weapon. Nobody was struck by the bullet and there were no reported injuries.
The Columbia Basin Investigative Team (CBIT) is investigating the incident, which is protocol in officer-involved shootings, according to Foreman. The involved deputy, whose name has not yet been released, has been placed on paid administrative leave as the CBIT investigates the incident, which is also "normal protocol," Foreman said.
Foreman expects more information to be released on the incident either today or tomorrow.
