Royal City Food Bank thanks the community
To the editor:
We at the Royal City Food Bank want to take this opportunity to thank everyone in our community who support the individuals and families that we serve. We are very grateful to each of you.
Business donors include Royal City Harvest Foods, John Loos Farms, Verhey’s Peaches, Blue Sky Potatoes and Onions, Jenks Bros., Lineage in Quincy, the Jabbora Family, Seed Cupboard Nursery, and Anderson Produce in Mattawa.
We are also recipients of garden produce from Maureen Saucedo and Amy Para.
We especially want to thank those of you who sponsor and participate in food drives benefiting the food bank. And some of you give financial gifts; we thank you.
In addition to local sources, we receive commodities from Community Services of Moses Lake, Second Harvest, and Northwest Harvest.
Ours is an all-volunteer organization that also accepts gently used clothing that we make available to those in need.
From July 1, 2015 (the beginning of our reporting year) to June 30, 2016, we served 6,266 households that included 22,901 individuals. In a special Northwest Harvest Kids Summer Food Club in July and August, we distributed 808 bags of groceries to 1,303 children.
We could not do this without you. Thank you. We wish you a happy and blessed Thanksgiving. You certainly bless us.
