Maria Robles Gaeta

Maria Robles Gaeta, age 80, of Othello, Wash., passed away Nov. 15, 2016 in Kennewick, Wash. She was born in Nostic, Jalisco, Mexico on July 4, 1936 to Jose Robles Montes and Margarita Alvarez Quintanilla. She grew up in Mexico with her two sisters, Margarita and Socorro. She finished school and worked as an elementary school teacher at the Sub Urbana No. 29 elementary school in Mezquitic, Jalisco, for a number of years before she was married.
She married Arturo Gaeta on Dec. 31, 1963. They enjoyed nearly 53 years of marriage and raised 6 children together. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Othello, Wash., and she had a passion for cooking delicious traditional Mexican food. She was a master seamstress and enjoyed crocheting beautiful items she passed on to her family and friends, but her primary passion in life was her family. She was a strong willed, intelligent woman who was well respected in her family. She will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her husband, Arturo Gaeta of Othello, Wash.; children Sofia (Antonio) Gaeta Rodriguez of Kennewick, Wash., Leo Gaeta of Othello, Wash., Elva (Chief) Gaeta Allan of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, Mario Gaeta of Othello, Wash. and Cristina Gaeta of Seattle, Wash.; siblings Margarita (Nicolas) Robles de Medrano of Mezquitic, Jalisco, and Socorro (Carlos) Robles de la Torre of Queen Creek, Ariz. Maria also leaves behind 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren to cherish her loving memory. She is preceded in death by her son, Salvador Gaeta and her daughter-in-law, Cecilia De Luna Gaeta.
A viewing will be held from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., with a rosary from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 19, 2016, at Stevens Funeral Chapel in Othello, Wash. Catholic Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 21, 2016, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Othello, Wash.
