| November 7, 2016 1:00 AM

OTHELLO — An afternoon two-car collision on Oct. 27 five miles south of Othello on Highway 24 sent two people to Othello Community Hospital.

All vehicle occupants were employing proper safety restraints, and neither alcohol nor drugs was a factor, the Washington State Patrol said.

Both vehicles were eastbound on 24 just before 3 p.m. when the accident occurred. According to the WSP, the lead vehicle slowed for traffic and was struck in the rear by the second.

One of the injured was Mary L. Quezada, 55, of Othello. She was driving the lead car, a gray 2011 Honda Accord four-door. Her vehicle was driven from the scene.

The second injured person was Joanna Quezada, 23, of Othello.

The driver of the second vehicle was Emilia Corrales, 87, of Othello, according to the WSP. She was driving a green 2008 Lincoln four-door. It was removed from the scene by Oscar’s Towing.

The WSP cited Corrales for “following too close.”
