MOSES LAKE — The trio of Nelly Korneychuk, Maddy Powers and Jacinda Fansher had six kills each, but it wasn’t enough as Big Bend was swept by Yakima Valley 25-10, 25-22, 25-12.

Long runs doomed the Vikings in the sweep.

The Yaks began the match on an 11-1 run and the first set was never in doubt. A kill by Korneychuk cut the deficit to 10 points before Yakima Yalley closed on a 6-1 run.

Big Bend showed some resiliency in the second set, clawing back from a 6-2 hole to take a brief 19-18 lead. However, another run by Yakima Valley — this time four straight points — allowed for some breathing room for the visitors, 22-19.

Kerista Goodpaster led the Yakima Valley charge with two straight kills to end the second set. Goodpaster finished with a match-high 21 kills and two digs.

Big Bend hung close in the third set and trailed 13-9 after a Fansher kill before a 9-0 run moved the Yaks in front 22-9. A kill by McKenzie Guerrero ended the Vikings’ drought.

Brittany Hosley had 15 digs and Savannah Bass added 18 assists.

The Vikings’ final home match is Nov. 9 against Spokane.
