Delbert Lamb

Delbert Lamb, 94, passed away peacefully at the Samaritan Healthcare Hospital in Moses Lake on May 13, 2016. Born and raised in Eastern Washington in the Palouse, the son of Glenn and Martha (Christman) Lamb, he was a lifelong resident of Eastern Washington.

He graduated high school in Steptoe, Wash. in 1939. Delbert was an active member of the Civil Air Patrol. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1941. He served honorably from 1942 to 1946 as part of forces assigned to the Pacific Theater. Upon leaving the Marine Corps, Delbert married Neva Crumbaker and raised two daughters, Constance and Colleen. He worked, owned, and operated a dairy farm and crop dusting business.

Moving to Moses Lake in 1955, he co-owned the International Harvester dealership with Tommy Thompson. In the mid-1960s he was certified as a commercial pilot instructor and then began teaching future fixed-wing pilots at Big Bend Community College until his retirement.

In his retirement, Delbert enjoyed fishing, hunting, restoring and showing vintage automobiles, exercising at the Moses Lake Senior Center, and attending weekly events with the Moses Lake Classic Car Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents Glenn and Martha, his wife Neva, his brother Maurice and his daughter Constance. Delbert leaves his daughter Colleen and her husband Bryon; Connie’s husband Kelly; grandchildren Tyler, Connor and Paige; great-grandchildren Oliver Crosby, and many close friends the Lambs consider family.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:30 on June 4th at the Flight Training Center, Big Bend Community College, 7400 Andrews Street NE, Moses Lake 98837, with private internment at a later date.
