2 injured in collision near Quincy

QUINCY — Two people were injured in a two-vehicle collision near Quincy on Tuesday.

About 11 a.m. Abelardo Diaz, 41, of Quincy, was driving a 2015 Chevrolet Cruze north on state Route 281, about four miles south of Quincy, and slowed down for traffic. Diaz’s vehicle was reportedly struck in the rear by a 2014 Cadillac XTS driven by Doris Carpenter, 81, of Quincy, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Diaz and his passenger Alejandra Diaz, 41, of Quincy, were injured and transported to Quincy Valley Medical Center for treatment. Carpenter was not injured. Carpenter and Diaz’s vehicles sustained reportable damages and were towed from the scene.

Carpenter was cited for speeding too fast for conditions, according to the patrol.
