May 31, 1935 – April 27, 2016

Gary Lee Hammons, 80, formerly of Coulee City, departed this earth on April 27 in Wenatchee, with his son and daughter-in-law by his side. Gary was born on May 31, 1935 in Wickashaw, Wisc.

Gary worked in the steel industry in his young adult years and for Boeing in the early 1970s, eventually retiring from the Federal Way School District as a grounds maintenance person after 25-plus years.

His many hobbies included building and operating model trains, square dancing with his wife Carmen where they participated in many parades and even danced at the State Capitol for Washington state’s 100th birthday, hunting, fishing, reloading ammunition and tinkering around on small engines. One always knew when Gary was happy by hearing him whistling a happy tune.

Gary is survived by his wife Carmen of Coulee City; sons Chris, Bryan and John; brother Dean; stepchildren Debbie McMenemy and Larry, David (Keri) and Keith (Angela) Parkison and 12 grandchildren with 1one great-grandchild on the way.

Memorial Services will be held at the Coulee City Senior Center on June 4 at 1 p.m. with a potluck lunch to follow. Please bring a potluck item of choice; refreshments will be provided. There will be a motorcycle escort arriving shortly before the service.

The family would like to thank Colonial Vista staff and Central Washington Hospice for all the care and support and Steward and Williams Funeral Home for assisting the Neptune Society with the cremation.
