With the filing period for August’s primary and November’s general elections ending Friday, local races in Grant and Adams Counties are all but set.

The primary is scheduled for Aug. 2, while the general election is set for Nov. 8. Some of the high profile races include the one in the Fourth Congressional District, as Clint Didier, R-Eltopia, has been joined by John (the man) Malan, D-Pasco, Doug McKinley, D-Richland, and Glenn Jakeman, R-Yakima, to defeat incumbent Rep. Dan Newhouse, R-Yakima. In the 9th Legislative District, Rep. Mary Dye, R-Pomeroy, who was appointed to the position after the resignation of Susan Fagan in April 2015, will be competing against Jennifer Goulet, D-Pasco, and Hailey Roemer, R-Pullman, to retain her seat.

People who have filed for the position include Brian McGowan, R-Moses Lake, Tom Taylor, R-Moses Lake, Nathan Pack, R-Moses Lake, James “Jim” Liebrecht, R-Moses Lake, and Casey Cooper, R-Moses Lake.
