March 29, 1926 – May 19, 2016

Carl passed away Thursday, May 19 at Lakeshore West Residential Care in Moses Lake, Wash. at the age of 90. He was born March 29, 1926 to Francis and Nellie Leonhart in Minneapolis, Kan. Carl was the last surviving sibling of thirteen children. At the age of 17, Carl joined the Navy during World War II and served as a carpenter’s mate in the SeaBees Division.

On March 5, 1948, Carl married the love of his life, Evelyn Anderson (a war widow) and her toddler daughter, Diana. Another daughter, Linda, was born the following year. The couple resided in Woodburn, Ore. for the next 50 years before moving to Moses Lake, Wash. in 1999 to be near their daughters and their families.

Carl was a talented finish carpenter until his retirement in 1988. He was an avid fisherman and loved all sports and games. His great sense of humor and teasing brightened everyone’s day.

Carl’s wife, Evelyn, preceded him in death on Aug. 5, 2014. He is survived by daughters Diana Williamson (Jerry) and Linda Ferguson (John), all of Moses Lake; grandchildren DeAnne Clune (Alan) of North Bend, Wash., Eric Williamson (Sharma) of Quincy, Lori Ferguson of Ephrata, Wash. and Brian Ferguson (Catherine) of Moorcroft, Wyo. Great-grandchildren include: Michelle Pickett (Brian) of Salem, Ore., Kristin Boley of Spokane, Wash., Ethan, Caleb and Joshua Williamson all of Quincy, Wash., Haven and Kadin Mello of Ephrata, Wash. and Brendan and Charley Ferguson and Dana Miller of Moorcroft, Wyo.; and great-great granddaughter, Allyson Pickett of Salem, Ore.

The family would like to extend a sincere thank-you to Kokou and Dede Dogby and all of the care-givers at Lakeshore West for their loving care for the last two years of Dad’s (Grandpa’s) life. Your kindness to him was a blessing to all of us.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Please sign the online guestbook or leave a note for the family at www.kayserschapel.com. Arrangements are in care of Kayser’s Chapel & Crematory.
