MOSES LAKE — Smooth jazz with chocolate and cheesecake as a chaser is on the program at the annual Jazz Dessert Social sponsored by the Moses Lake High School Choral Boosters. The concert, which includes a silent and live auction, is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Moses Lake Presbyterian Church, 1142 West Ivy Ave. This will be the 12th annual concert with dessert.

The MLHS Jazz Choir will take the stage for seven group numbers and 14 solos, said choral instructor David Holloway. The program includes jazz classics like “Unforgettable” and “Orange Colored Sky” (both popularized by Nat King Cole) and jazz twists on popular songs like “Titanium.”

Holloway said the concert “is a lot of fun and has been one of the Choral Boosters most consistent fundraisers, thanks to our supportive local business donors.”

The music comes with dessert. The 2016 menu includes chocolate torte with ganache, lemon pie, rhubarb crisp, berry pie, cheesecake with a choice of toppings, Texas chocolate sheet cake, white cake with fruit topping and custom cupcakes. There are sugar-free and gluten-free choices as well.

That’s followed by the live auction, with Jacob Barth as the auctioneer. Some of the prizes include tickets to a Seattle Mariners game, a round of golf, a birthday party package and baskets built around various themes.

The money raised goes to support the choral program, Holloway said. The money is used to buy and replace equipment and music, “to helping with travel costs and everything in between,” he said.

Tickets are $10 per person and include two desserts. They will be available at the door or can be purchased by contacting Danielle Boss, 509-771-1762.
