Royal to offer electronic pay option for utility bills

ROYAL CITY — The City of Royal City will offer its residents an electronic option for payment of their utility bills, it was decided at the April 19 meeting of the Royal City Council.
The Council authorized Mayor Kent Andersen to sign a three-year agreement with Xpress Bill-play for its service. It also authorized Andersen to spend $2,500 to upgrade the city’s accounting software to facilitate electronic bill pay.
Royal City Police Chief Darin Smith reported to the Council that newly hired officer Josh Fitzhugh is about halfway through his police academy training.
Smith told the Council he would be looking into options regarding the surplussing of recently replaced patrol cars.
The Council heard an asbestos assessment was completed at the condemned apartments on Acacia Street, and asbestos was found to be present in two of the units.
The Council approved a consent agenda that included the Council meeting minutes of April 5, a payroll in the amount of $25,562.08 and claims totaling $37,080.08.
