Gerald Lee Spencer, 81, Moses Lake, Wash., passed away peacefully in Wenatchee on May 13, 2016 surrounded by loved ones. He was born July 6, 1934 in Aliceville, Ind. and was a long time resident of Colorado, Indiana and his final resting place of Washington state. Here he lived with his wife Mary Spencer and daughter Crystal Scott.

Gerald spent a portion of his life serving his county when he joined the Marine Corps with his brother Bob in 1955. After serving for two years in the Marine Corps they transferred to the United States Navy in December of 1957 until March of 1962. He enjoyed the opportunity it gave him to travel the world and see many beautiful things.

After returning home he reunited with his longtime love, Mary Webb, and wed on October 6, 1964 in Raton, N.M. Together they had one child, Crystal Scott. They enjoyed traveling around the county until they settled down in Washington state. He and his wife enjoyed living in Ephrata where they were active members of the Eagles, Elks, American Legion, and the Masonic Lodge where he proudly achieved the title of a 32nd-degree Mason.

Gerald touched many people’s lives in the time he was with us. He was personally involved with the setup of the Moses Lake Food Bank and the gleaning program. He loved volunteering and chatting with his “Eagle Family,” sharing amazing stories of his wonderful life.

Gerald is survived by his wife, Mary; daughter Crystal Scott; son-in-law Larry Scott; grandchildren Gary Spencer and wife Sidra, Greg Scott, and Kayla Scott; great-grandchildren Lauren Chavez, Kadence Spencer and Ayden Spencer; brother Bob Spencer and wife Donna and sister Ruth Clark.
