Spring Festival run registration open

MOSES LAKE — Registration is open for two running events scheduled for Saturday and Monday of Spring Festival (and Memorial Day) weekend, May 28 and May 30. Spring Festival is the annual town celebration in Moses Lake.

The annual 5K and 10K Fun Run is scheduled for 8 a.m. May 28, starting and ending at the Surf ‘n Slide water park. Both the 10-kilometer and 5-kilometer runs follow Pioneer Way before working their way back to the park.

Registration is $16 per person for runners registering before Friday. The registration fee increases to $19 per person from Saturday through race day. There is registration on race day; the registration fee is $25 on race day only.

Family registration rates are available, but not on race day. Advance registration family rate is $66 per family until May 13, $76 per family after that date. Families qualifying for the rate include two adults and two minor-age children.

The annual Duathlon and Triathlon begin at 8 a.m. May 30 at Montlake Park, 401 Linden Ave. Triathlon participants will swim one-quarter mile, then go on a 10-mile bike ride and a 3.1 mile run. The duathlon is a running-biking event. It consists of a 3.1-mile run, 10-mile bike ride and another 3.1-mile run.

Registration is $60 per person before May 16; people who are not members of USAT (USA Triathlon) will be charged an additional $10, Registration is $70 per person on and after May 16, and the $10 fee applies.

The duathlon and triathlon offer team options as well. A two-person team is $85 per team before May 16, $95 per team on May 16 and later. Registration for three-person teams is $95 per team before May 16, $105 per team on May 16 and after. The $10 per person fee applies for all runners who are not USAT members.

Both courses start in the park and follow the roads around the park.

Participants for either event can pick up the registration packet from 4 to 7 p.m. May 27 at the Moses Lake Museum & Art Center. All racers will be required to show identification. Fun Run participants will be required to read and sign a waiver.
