DESERT AIRE — The annual Desert Aire Fly-in and Breakfast will be held on Saturday, June 18, at the Desert Aire Airport, Director Melinda Skogerson has announced.

The Fly-in and Breakfast is the lone fundraising event of the year for the support of the Desert Aire Airport, one of the finest small airports in the country.

Skogerson got the volunteer director’s position by virtue of being married to DAA commission chairman Dick Skogerson.

The Fly-in and Breakfast is held on Father’s Day weekend every year. It started out rather small but has turned into a community festival for area residents and visiting pilots.

Volunteers will cook and serve the breakfast starting at 7 a.m. A $5 donation is suggested. It will include pancakes, eggs, sausage, milk, juice and coffee.

There will be drawings for prizes and flights between 9 and 11 a.m.

To get to the DAA, drive in on Desert Aire Drive and follow directional signs from the Sagebrush Senior Center to Harang’s Hangar.

Special aircraft scheduled to fly in include Med-Star’s Pilatus PC12 and a Blackhawk helicopter. Darrell Seeley will have his World War II collection on display.

“All of your donations are used to maintain the runway, taxiways, irrigation, lights and apron,” Melinda Skogerson said.
