New tax in Mattawa

MATTAWA – Mattawa City Clerk Robin Newcomb reported Friday that Proposition 1, which increases sales and use tax for transportation improvements was been approved by the voters in an April 5 special election.
Only 28 people voted, but 24 of them, or 85.71 percent, voted for the tax. This means Mattawa residents will one-tenth of a percent more on their purchase of taxable items.
