May 17, 1939 – May 6, 2016

On May 6, 2016 Juan Manuel Loera Sr passed away surrounded by family. Manuel would have been 77 on May 17. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, San Juana Loera, and sons, Juan Manuel Jr. (Kimberly), Jaime (Lisa), Javier (Lori), Ruben (Yolanda), Alejandro (Mishelle).

He was blessed with many grandchildren: Eric, Sabree, Adrian, Isaac, Korri, Josh, Jordan, Drew, Alejandra, Marcus, Blake, Jessica, Jaime, Sydney, Kortnie, Trevor, Antonio, Manuelito, Gloria, Cassey, Carina, Junior and Matthew. He was also blessed with several great grandchildren.

Manuel was born on May 17, 1939 in Matejuala, Mexico. He was the seventh child of 15 children. He loved his family and enjoyed telling stories of growing up in the monte of Mexico. Many of his siblings immigrated to the United States early in life and he followed suit. He eventually settled in Sunnyside, Wash. and began working for a man named Cipriano Esparza, who had a sister named San Juana Esparza. Manuel began dating San Juana and they were married soon after and began their family.

Manuel was an accomplished, self-made man. He had the unique ability to fix whatever he set his mind to. He taught himself how to weld, work on engines, and carpentry, He started several businesses like trucks, farming and hauling.

He also had many hobbies and enjoyed sharing them with his family and friends. Manuel loved to boat, fish, hunt and barbecue. He insisted that his sons get involved in these activities as well. This has led to the development of numerous traditions. Manuel had a big heart and could be counted on to help people who were in need.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 12, at Queen of all Saints Catholic Church in Warden, Wash. Viewing will be from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Rosary to be prayed from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Warden.
