ROYAL CITY — Royal High School senior Darrin Miller recently signed a national letter of intent to wrestle for Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska next winter.

Concordia is part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics. It has a high-caliber wrestling program.

Miller was a three-time state placer for Royal High School and amassed a record of 134-23. He placed fourth as a senior, third as a junior, and fifth as a sophomore at 170 pounds.

Miller was a three-time league champion and a three-time regional champion for the Knights.

“Darrin is an outstanding athlete,” Concordia Coach Pat Mitchell said. “He was a football player and was a two-time letter winner in football and was a wrestling ambassador to Japan. He’s an outstanding wrestler.”

Mitchell added that Miller’s father, Randy Miller, has coached him well. He said Miller understands what’s expected and how to conduct himself.

“He’s a good student, and I think he’ll be a good leader for Concordia,” he said.

Miller is planning to study Business Management.

“They have a good wrestling program, and I really liked the positive environment,” he said.
