3 injured in accident near Othello

OTHELLO — Three people were injured in a two-vehicle collision near Othello on Friday.

About 4:50 p.m. Adrian Silva, 49, of Othello, was driving a 2004 Peterbilt semi-truck west on state Route 26, about six miles west of Othello, and reportedly tried to make a left turn onto a private road. A 2014 Nissan Sentra driven by Abel Barajas Ramirez, 44, of Royal City, attempted to pass Silva in the left lane and ended up striking the semi-truck, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Barajas Ramirez and his passengers, an 8-year-old boy from Royal City and Maria Garcia, 44, of Royal City, were injured and transported to Othello Community Hospital by ambulance for treatment. Silva was not injured.

Silva’s semi-truck sustained reportable damages, but was driven from the scene. Barajas Ramirez’s vehicle also received reportable damage and was impounded.

Barajas Ramirez was cited for improper passing, according to the patrol.
