1 dead in shooting near Moses Lake

MOSES LAKE — A woman contacted police late Monday night after finding a dead man inside of her Moses Lake residence.

About 11:30 p.m. Monday night a woman contacted police stating she heard a loud noise inside of her residence in the 8700 block of Neppel Road Northeast and when she went into her living room to investigate the noise she found an unidentified dead person on the floor of her living room, according to Grant County Sheriff's Office spokesman Kyle Foreman.

Emergency personnel responded to the scene but the man, who had reportedly received a single gunshot wound, was pronounced dead. Detectives are currently interviewing the woman and her adult son, who were the only occupants of the residence at the time of the initial report.

The investigation into the incident is still in its preliminary stages and is ongoing. Foreman says he expects more information to be released sometime this afternoon.
