Dorothy R. Whitney, 89, long time Warden resident passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at Avalon Care Center in Othello with family by her side. Graveside services will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at 11 a.m..

Dorothy was born in Grandview, Wash. on July 7, 1926 to Fred and Margaret Nellie (Hollar) Zilliox. She married Lloyd Whitney on April 8, 1948 in Pasco, Wash. and they moved to Warden in 1956 where Lloyd started his own construction company. They were married for 65 years before Lloyd passed away on Sept. 22, 2013.

Dorothy was an avid golfer that enjoyed snow birding with her husband to Arizona during the winter months. She served on the school board and enjoyed painting.

Survivors include her four sons, Dennis (Kathy) Whitney, David (Barbara) Whitney, John Whitney, and Martin (Kristi) Whitney; 14 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and one sister, Betty Miller. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Lloyd; son Les; her parents and four of her siblings, Jim, Marjorie, Dick and Mary Lou.
