Polly Y Yamamoto, 71, a longtime Moses Lake resident, passed away mid-morning on Thursday, March 24, 2016 at her home, her son and daughter-in-law at her side. A casual reception/life celebration will be held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Lin’s Restaurant on Saturday, April 2 for family and close friends. Polly was born in Ritzville, Wash, on June 2, 1944, the daughter of Harry (Spud) Masato and Kimie (Sugimoto) Yamamoto. She graduated from Moses Lake High School in 1962. Her studies and continual professional development in the insurance industry set her to some 30 years in starting in the insurance business in 1976 in the Moses Lake area where she eventually retired. Her professional life included Blessing and Associates, Argus Insurance and the Porterhouse. Her personal interests included haiku (Japanese poetry), origami, traveling and spending time with friends with an occasional trip to go fishing.

Survivors are Jay (son) and Ruth (daughter-in-law) Pickett of Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, Canada; grandchildren Melissa Backman (Nathan Howard), Olympia, Wash., Chanelle Carchio (Nick), Reno, Nev., Bridgette Backman (Allyse Williams), Puyallup, Wash., Genna Kitchen (James), Puyallup, Wash., Casey Pickett (Josh Dawson), Kent, Wash., and Kelley Pickett (Zack Rutherford) Auburn Wash.; Great-grandchildren Kelsey, Jordon, Alyssa, Mak, Jonas, Kaitelynn, Hannah, Kendall, Nicholas, and J’Lynn; siblings Wayne (Terumi) Yamamoto, Kayko (Hideo) Watenabe, Harry (Shirley) Yamamoto, Jim (Yoshimi) Yamamoto and Joe (Dorothy) Yamamoto.
