Moses Lake boys win state title

VANCOUVER, Wash. — Moses Lake High School’s boys varsity bowling team, coached by Ed Samuelson, emerged victorious after two days of competition at the 51st Annual Washington State Bowling Proprietors’ Association (WSBPA), State High School Varsity Bowling Championships at Big Al’s in Vancouver.

The Bowling Team consisted of Malaki Stewart, Payton Owen, Brandon Duzon, Austin Snegosky, Noah Torres and Jeremiah Gish. Moses Lake was in third place after Saturday’s competition (22-13 record) With Woodinville holding a slight lead with a 24-11 record.

On Sunday, Moses Lake took over first place after the first Baker game and never looked back as they won the next five games, finishing with 52 points and a state championship in Division 1.

Moses Lake entered the state competition as the No. 1 seed with a team average of 964.

Austin Snegosky was named to the All-State First Team with an average of 215 and Brandon Duzon was named to the All-State Second Team with an average of 194.

Also competing at the State Singles event at Big Al’s was Maddy Garza (second), Kimberly Mulder (third) and Danielle Garcia (sixth).

More than 1,000 student-athletes statewide participated during the bowling season. Now in its 51st year, this is the second longest running high school bowling championship in the United States, following only New York.
