GEORGE — A collision near George resulted in the closure of westbound Interstate-90 lanes Tuesday.

A Chevrolet Suburban reportedly collided with a semi-truck near milepost 143 in the westbound I-90 lane, according to Washington State Patrol spokesman Darren Wright.

The unidentified driver of the Suburban was injured and airlifted via MedStar helicopter to Confluence Health in Wenatchee.

As of 4:20 p.m. Tuesday, westbound I-90 was closed between Silica Road and George, with a detour available at exit 149 onto Frontage Road, Wright said.

It was not clear at press time when the road would be reopened.
