How can a get a copy of a past story?

We have copies of the paper going back about a year for sale in our office. The publication date is needed to find the correct paper. To help narrow down your search, we have a blue binder in the front office that shows papers from the past month. Customers are welcome to flip through the papers to find the publication date. A web search will sometimes do the trick too. Office staff have Internet access and can conduct a web search for customers.

Beyond one year, back editions can be viewed on microfiche at the Moses Lake Public Library.

What is your deadline? When do you publish?

Our deadline for local news content is 5 p.m. Monday-Friday. We publish a paper Monday-Friday and post breaking news throughout the day at www.columbiabasinherald.com.

How do I order photos that appeared in the paper?

You can do so my contacting Managing Editor Lynne Lynch, editor@columbiabasinherald.com, for $5 per photo that can be copies onto a disk or emailed to customers. Please have the publication date and page number handy when you submit your request via email.

Who writes the police reports?

We pull information directly from the reports provided by the respective law enforcement agencies in our coverage area (including Grant County Sheriff’s Office, Moses Lake Police Department and Ephrata Police Department). While the reports sometimes seem silly, we think it’s important to show the public how law enforcement’s time is spent.

  • • Managing Editor/Editorial Page Editor Lynne Lynch
  • • Community representative: Terry Leas

Editorials are written collaboratively by the Editorial Board based on the consensus of the Editorial Board. They do not necessarily represent the views of the Columbia Basin Herald or its staff.
