Emergency responders serve breakfast at North

| March 15, 2016 1:45 PM

MOSES LAKE — Police officers and firefighters came to North Elementary Friday and not only ate breakfast with the kids – they served it.

Friday was the finale of National School Breakfast Week, and a dozen emergency responders came to North to serve cereal, bananas and orange juice. Firefighters and law enforcement officers spent the entire week going to all Moses Lake School District elementary schools for breakfast.

Moses Lake Police Department officers (including Chief David Ruffin) and Grant County Sheriff deputies, along with firefighters from the Moses Lake Fire Department and Grant County Fire District 5 participated. They helped the cooks serve breakfast, then talked with the kids until school started, said North principal Kelly Frederick.

“What a great turnout, showing that our community emergency personnel are not just good at their jobs, but can dish up scrambled eggs and hashbrowns with a smile,” Frederick wrote.
