March 9

A man was contacted at a business in the 1400 block of East Yonezawa Boulevard for suspicious behavior and was reportedly found to have a felony warrant out of Benton County. The man was arrested and booked into the Grant County Jail for the warrant.

Report of a pair of tennis shoes and deodorant stolen out of a student’s locker at Moses Lake High School.

Two juvenile sisters were caught stealing about $47 worth of items from Walmart. Walmart wished to pursue pressing charges against the girls, but did not want them trespassed from the property.

Report of a vehicle fire in the 1800 block of East Kittleson Road. A vehicle battery was reportedly too big for the vehicle. A newspaper was placed over the terminals to prevent the battery terminals from hitting the vehicle’s hood. The newspaper is believed to be the source of the fire. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

Report of an unknown suspect asking “odd questions” in the 100 block of West Northshore Drive. The suspect reportedly left the scene in a green Honda passenger vehicle.

A woman reported two packages were stolen from her front door step in the 1900 block of West Peninsula Drive.

A woman reportedly crashed her vehicle into a power pole and phone box as she was driving north on Patton Boulevard. She hit her brakes to turn into Airport Grocery Mart’s parking lot. The woman reportedly left her vehicle in the parking lot and failed to report the collision.

A woman reported her cellphone was stolen out of her hotel room in the 400 block of South Melva Lane. Police searched everyone who was in the woman’s room, but did not locate the phone. The woman was advised to call back if the phone is located.

Report of a person hiding in some bushes in the 1100 block of North Grape Drive. Police could not find the unidentified person.


Grant County Sheriff’s Office

March 9

A dog was reported running at large.

A male was reported lying by the side of a highway.

Syringes were reportedly found lying on the ground.

Two separate fraudulent phone calls were reported in which the caller claimed to be from the IRS.

Suspicious persons were reported sitting in a parked car, possibly casing the reporting party’s residence for a burglary.

A woman reported that her sister-in-law, with whom she and her three children live, was trying to kick her out.

A woman reported that her husband and son were arguing when their neighbor came over. The son reportedly put the neighbor in a headlock and the neighbor punched him.

A woman reported hearing a car come to her neighbor’s residence. She tried to contact the neighbor by phone and was unsuccessful. She reportedly had heard three doors slam and gunshots from a rifle earlier.

A woman reported that somebody was using her son’s Social Security number.

A juvenile was reported going through a mailbox.

A woman reported that she saw a female on the side of the road crying and trying to get away from the vehicle where a male was on the phone yelling.

March 10

A woman reported finding her kitchen window broken.

A female was reported crawling on the side of the road while a male in a red truck drove slowly in front of her.


Grant County Jail

March 9

Arturo Barcenas, 26, of Beverly, was booked on a Grant County District Court warrant.

Aaron Salazar, 28, of Moses Lake, was arrested and booked on a GCDC warrant.

David Knopp, 35, of Moses Lake, was arrested and booked for possession of a controlled substance.
