Eugene Clarence Darrow, 80, of Moses Lake, passed away at Columbia Crest peacefully, Friday, March 4, 2016.

Gene was born on June 7, 1935 in Mullan, Idaho. He was the youngest child of Clarence and Louise Darrow. He was preceded in death by both parents, older brother Lavern and older sister Delores.

In 1956 to 1958, Gene served in the U.S. Army and was a decorated marksman (M-1) and sharpshooter (carbine). He then moved from Idaho to Seattle, Wash. in 1967 where he worked for the BelKnape Glass Company. He retired and moved to Moses Lake in 2000 with his many cats.

Gene enjoyed 10 years as a volunteer at the Moses Lake Food Bank with his cousins Linda Finlay, Ronald Hoffman and JoAnn Carl, and many friends he made there, both volunteers and patrons. He loved to serve his community.

He enjoyed his retirement with his many cats. He loved a wide variety of music and spending time in his flower gardens. He wouldn’t miss out on watching those college and pro football and basketball games.

Gene left behind family, Ron and Gale Hayes and their families of Idaho, Jack and Sue Moffet and their families of Montana, JoAnn, Percette, and Joseph Carl of Seattle, Linda Finlay, Shawn Finlay, Rudeen and Doug Larsen, Racyna and Caleb Henson of Moses Lake and other family, Celia and Cindy.

Gene will be remembered always and missed by family, friends and his beloved cat Pippin.
