Beverly was born May 6, 1929 in Hugo, Colo. to Willis and Esther Dirks. Her early education included Lowden School, and then on to graduate from Walla Walla High School in 1948. Beverly earned her teaching degree from Eastern Washington College of Education in 1951.

After graduation she became an elementary teacher in Moses Lake, Wash. Beverly’s passion for education was evident by the love she had for each student. She provided each with organization and insight to help them learn. She retired in 1991 after 40 years of teaching.

Beverly met her first husband Bill Fissell whom she later divorced. In 1987, she married Edward Carroway. They traveled and enjoyed many adventures up until his death in 2009. Beverly was well known for her Mary Kay business which she mastered over many years, sharing her knowledge of makeup that she branded the best. Her other passions included traveling, gardening, and reading. Beverly loved animals including her poodles and her beloved German short-haired Shulzie, who was her companion for over 16 years until he died in 2014. Known affectionately as “Aunt Bev” by her family and close friends, she had an enthusiasm for life and her wonderful smile will be remembered by all who knew her. A Christian woman of faith, she is with the Lord whom she lived for each and every day.

She is survived by her brothers Gary Dirks and Dean Dirks; stepchildren Gary Carraway, Carolyn Carroway and Lisa Carroway and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Edward Carroway in 2009, and her sister Elaine Merry in 2010.
