March 8

Report of a theft of a security camera in an alley in the 400 block of West Third Avenue.

A girl was detained at Safeway for theft. The girl’s mother was contacted and the girl was taken to school. Charges of third-degree theft may follow in the future.

A man contacted police after finding a dead deer in his backyard in the 1000 block of South Laguna Drive. The man was advised to contact Fish and Wildlife to have the deer removed from his property.

A man reported receiving a fraudulent phone call from a person claiming to represent the IRS.

Police contacted a man and woman in the area of East Belair Drive and Kinder Road who were reportedly screaming at each other. The people involved said they were just arguing and nothing physical had occurred. Both agreed to calm down and to walk to a friend’s house.

A man arrived at a towing company in the 3300 block of Citation Road Northeast claiming tools were missing from his truck that had been impounded after a collision. A woman reportedly called the business and threatened to take the company to court. The business requested both the man and woman be trespassed from the location. The man and woman were advised of the trespass and the woman was told she could take the business to small claims court for the missing items.

Report of an intoxicated man knocking on doors and asking for a ride to Spokane in the 1400 block of Paxson Drive Northeast. Police were not able to find the suspect.

A man advised police two juveniles were running around an apartment complex in the area of the 1200 block of South Balsam Street. The man said he watched the juveniles while he was waiting for police and one of the juveniles allegedly pulled a gun out of his waist band. The juveniles were detained and the gun was discovered to be a BB gun.


Grant County Sheriff’s Office

A man reported that a stolen dirt bike was returned to him.

A woman reported that her ex had broken into her house three times and taken things that didn’t belong to him.

A dog was reported running at large in a highway median.

A woman reported that somebody had dumped garbage in her yard overnight.

A dog was reportedly barking nonstop. The reporting party believed that the dog might be out of water or have a shock collar on.

Threats were reported at Columbia Basin Job Corps to a student from an adult.

A fraudulent phone call was reported, in which the caller claimed to be from the IRS.

A woman reported being assaulted by her aunt.

A male reported hitting a cat with his car.

A man reported a suspicious person walking back and forth by his window and whistling.


Grant County Jail

March 8

Stormie Douglas, 34, of Ephrata, was arrested and booked for fourth-degree assault.

Amanda Schmidt, 29, of Moses Lake, was arrested and booked on a Grant County Superior Court material witness warrant.

Josue Peredia, 23, of Quincy, was arrested and booked on a Grant County District Court warrant.

Jesse Curtiss, 29, of Eatonville, was arrested and booked on a GCSC warrant.

April Bernthal, 37, of Othello, was arrested and booked on a Department of Corrections warrant.

March 9

Victor Salazar, 21, of Kennewick, was arrested and booked for third-degree driving with a suspended/revoked license.

Dustin Montes, 38, of Tulsa, Okla., was booked on a Benton County warrant.
