Learning the lay of the land

MOSES LAKE — Two Moses Lake Christian Academy students had the chance to dip their toes in the pool of authority Wednesday, serving as the school’s co-principals of the day.

Seventh-grader Cole Lindberg and his fifth-grade sister Elise Lindberg spent the day learning the tricks of the trade from MLCA’s full-time principal Mark Agrellas. The Lindberg siblings’ parents won the opportunity for their children at the academy’s auction event.

Agrellas, in his first year as the principal at the Christian Academy, said the principal for a day event is valuable in that it “gives students the opportunity to see behind the scenes of what goes on at school.”

Cole and Elise started their duties early by helping set up and take down chapel in the morning. They accompanied Agrellas in observing a third-grade classroom and learned what makes good teaching. They were also on hand with Agrellas when the school went into lockdown Wednesday morning due to the incident involving threats made to Coulee City schools by a suspect in the area.

The Lindbergs got the full experience, helping supervise lunch and recess, as well.
