Brothers charged for tying up and assaulting father

EPHRATA — Two brothers allegedly tied up their father with automotive jumper cables and assaulted him in August.

Hector Guadarrama, 25, of Moses Lake, and Ernesto Guadarrama, 24, of Othello, were charged with second-degree assault, unlawful imprisonment and harassment in Grant County Superior Court. Hector Guadarrama was also charged with intimidating a witness.

The charges stem from Hector Guadarrama’s wife obtaining a temporary order for protection against her husband in August. The order reportedly stipulated Hector Guadarrama was not allowed to be near his wife and their two children, who were reportedly staying with Guadarrama’s father on Road D.4 Southeast near Royal City, according to police records.

Hector and Ernesto Guadarrama reportedly arrived at their father’s residence and Hector Guadarrama started yelling at his father and told him he (his father) was going to help him get his daughters back. Ernesto Guadarrama allegedly got a pair of automotive jumper cables and tied up his father.

“I was told that his legs were bound with the cables which also were wrapped around his neck so he could not get away,” wrote a deputy. “I was told that Hector then started beating his father with a wooden fishing net and his fist. I was told that as Hector was beating his father, Ernesto was holding his father still/down.”

The victim was able to break loose from the jumper cables and grabbed the fishing net from Hector Guadarrama and broke it into pieces. Hector Guadarrama allegedly told his father he was going to get find a knife and stab him if he didn’t help him get his daughters back, according to police records.

In addition, Hector Guadarrama allegedly told his father he would kill him, his wife and anyone else who helped get his daughter’s taken away from him. He allegedly said he would kill them all if they showed up at a Sept. 8 court hearing. Deputies were advised Hector Guadarrama was “not afraid to shoot the cops,” according to police records.

Hector and Ernesto Guadarrama reportedly left the scene in a green Honda Accord with Oregon license plates in an unknown direction of travel. Deputies were told Hector Guadarrama was staying in Moses Lake with another brother, but the brother said he was not staying with him.
