UPDATE TO SITUATION IN COULEE CITY

UPDATE: The suspect in the incident involving Coulee City schools has been taken into custody, according to the Grant County Sheriff's Office. Authorities followed the suspect to the Lakeview area on State Route 28. The Sheriff's Office temporarily closed SR28 in the area, and the suspect was taken into custody around 10 a.m. The highway has been reopened.

MOSES LAKE - School districts in Moses Lake, Soap Lake and Wilson Creek were put into lockdown this morning in connection with the shutdown of schools in Coulee City. Moses Lake School District Superintendent Michelle Price said schools in Moses Lake were put into lockdown after a man, reportedly heading from Spokane to Coulee City, notified news reporters in Spokane he planned to shoot up a school in Coulee City.

The unidentified suspect's cell phone reportedly tracked him to the Moses Lake area and schools in Moses Lake were put into a precautionary lock down. As of about 9:20 a.m. the lockdown in Moses Lake schools was lifted and Price said the suspect's cell phone was traced to the Soap Lake area as of about 9:30 a.m.
