Kenneth Lee Krebs

Kenneth Lee Krebs, 71, of Yakima, died Feb. 13, 2016 from injuries sustained in a car accident in Union Gap, Wash.

Ken was born in Dallas, Ore. on June 12, 1944. He graduated from Yakima’s Eisenhower High School in 1959. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served aboard the minesweeper USS Persistent.

Ken served as a police officer in Zillah, Toppenish and Naches before accepting a job with the Warden Police Department in 1979. He rose through the ranks, retiring as chief in 2009.

Ken married Nancy Schultz on April 3, 1999, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, and following his retirement they moved to Yakima to be closer to Ken’s family.

Ken was a devoted Seattle Seahawks fan and also enjoyed computers, panning for gold, camping with friends and family and reading, especially science fiction.

Ken is survived by his wife Nancy; mother Donna Prime; brother Ronald (Juanda) Krebs; sister Shirley (Richard) Perry and Gale Prime; son Kenneth J. Krebs; daughters Kellie Krebs and Tina Krebs; stepson Jacob Estep; five grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews. Ken was preceded in death by his grandparents Guy and Lela Melsha, father Kenneth J. Krebs, stepfather Ben Prime, brother Merlin Prime, and stepson Phillip Schultz.

Memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday March 5 at the Warden School District Cafeteria, 101 West Beck Way, Warden. Grant County Sheriff’s Chaplain Dennis Fountain is officiating.
