Women and girls deserve better treatment

| June 30, 2016 1:00 PM

As an outspoken citizen of the city of Moses Lake, I’m very disappointed and displeased that the city of Moses Lake didn’t hire a woman to be the next chief of police in Moses Lake. Shame on us the way we treat women. In my hometown they had a woman chief of police. The crime rate went down and the morale in the department went up to an A-plus level. Without women all these jobs will be unoccupied and vacant, and this country will have better luck if we treat woman and girls right with respect.

This is not Russia or North Korea, where women are treated like second-class citizens. The United States and Moses Lake should be better than that.

But before I close my letter, I want to thank every woman and girl for staying strong in such a mean, cruel world to women and girls. You guys don’t get the credit and respect you deserve, but keep hope because a change will come soon. I remember as a 7-year-old boy, one night walking with my mother. It was very cold that night, but my good-hearted mother took her lady sweater off and threw it over my shoulders. That’s when I learned there’s no love like a mother’s love or a woman’s love. I owe my life to fighting for women’s and girls’ rights. And because of the way some men treat God’s women, I, James Earl Jones, endorse Hillary Clinton to be the first woman president of the United States of America. Mark my words, Donald Trump only cares about his billions and himself.
