Sally A. Alvarez

July 17, 1937 – October 4, 2015

Sally A. Alvarez passed away in her home, Oct. 4, 2015, surrounded by her loved ones in Moses Lake. Mom was born July 17, 1937, in Progress, Texas to Viviano and Paula Alvarado.

She later met and married Roy Alvarez on Feb. 6, 1957. At the time of her death they were married for 58 years.

Her early years while living in Quincy, Wash., she worked as a laborer, truck driver, and at the bank. After moving to Moses Lake in January 1971, she continued her work career as a teacher’s aide and also at Community Head start. She loved working where children were involved. Late in life she did day care at home, first with her grandchildren and later children from all walks of life.

Mom was happiest when she was making breakfast tacos to her adult children and grandchildren. Mom truly enjoyed “family trips” to Las Vegas and Reno, Nev. and all the fun stops to have a bologna sandwich.

She is survived by Roy Alvarez, ?North Spokane, Wash., Belinda (Charlie) Alaniz, Paula (Dan) Chapel, Elvia Joan, Marc (SanJuana), and Jackie Alvarez ; her two sisters, May (Donald) Glass and Marisa Nordmo and one brother Pedro Alvardo. She also leaves behind 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Joel, Jose, Ignacia, Juan, Agapito, Don, Byron and Humberto Alvarado and one sister, Leona Marie Alvarado.

A memorial service will be held celebrating her life July 16, 2016, at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church at 11 a.m. with a reception to follow.
