Free food Microsoft sponsors distribution in Mattawa

| June 23, 2016 6:00 AM

MATTAWA — About 10,000 pounds of fresh produce, non-perishable foods and grocery items will be distributed on June 23 to Mattawa area families who struggle to buy enough food.

Microsoft is co-sponsoring the Second Harvest Mobile Food Bank free food distribution in Mattawa, according to Jack Eaton of Microsoft.

This is not new, Eaton noted. Microsoft has sponsored Mobile Food Bank events in Quincy, Moses Lake, Ephrata and Warden so far this year.

“I anticipate up to 200 households may attend,” Eaton said. “The Mattawa Community Medical Clinic is allowing us to use a portion of their front parking lot.”

The free food distribution will go from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Second Harvest of the Inland Northwest is an IRS-approved 501(c)(3) organization eligible to receive tax deductible donations.

“I am still seeking co-sponsors and am still seeking volunteers to assist,” Eaton said.
