LGBT people are all God's children

| June 16, 2016 1:45 PM

I speak out against at all forms of injustices, but I find it very difficult for me to speak out against hate against LGBT human beings in Moses Lake. I once read a speech by an NAACP Baptist minister urging everyone to continue the struggle for voting rights and included in the speech where he was saying that everyone deserve the right to vote and named many oppressed people including gay people. Many of the people listening to my speech only heard the word gay and slyly put me down for mentioning the word “gay.” I feel that if the murder of the innocent people in Florida didn’t open eyes, nothing will. I have cried every day since the murders because I have not stood up in churches and spoken out when a preacher is putting down folks because they saw gay people kissing and feeling OK because they are surrounded by Christians that feel it’s okay to put down LGBT people. Yet the same group ask for forgiveness for crimes of rape, drug abuse. and other crimes.
