MOSES LAKE — Whatever the calendar says, one of the signs summer is here is the swimming pool opening. By that measure summer is here next week in Ephrata, Moses Lake and Quincy.

Technically the pool is already open in Moses Lake. It opened for limited operation on Memorial Day weekend and will be open this weekend. Tuesday is the official opening day, the same day school is dismissed for the summer.

General swim hours are 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday through Sunday. General admission is $8 per day for children ages 5-12, $9 per day for teens ages 13-17, and $10 per day for adults ages 18 to 64. Seniors, 65 years of age and older, pay $8 per day. Children age 4 and younger swim for free.

Swim passes are available for city residents and for people living outside the city limits. Parents who want more information can contact Moses Lake Parks and Recreation, 509-764-3805.

Moses Lake does have a swim team that hosts one meet each summer, and general operation hours are reduced. In 2016 the swim meet is the weekend of July 15.

Ephrata’s Splash Zone opens Monday. General admission hours are noon to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, noon to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday. Lap swimming is allowed through certain parts of the day, beginning June 22. Lap swimming is canceled during swim meets.

Daily admission is $6.50 for adults, $5.50 for children and teens ages 6-17 and $5.50 for seniors (60 years of age and older). Lap swimming is $2.75 per person. Children age 5 and younger swim free. Season passes are available. People who want more information can contact the Ephrata Parks and Recreation department, 509-754-3456.

The Quincy Aquatic Center opens June 17. General swim hours are 1 to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. There’s a half-price family swim, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday and 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Individuals swim for half-price from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday and Friday. Season passes are available.

A list of prices was not available at press time.
