Wallace's experience on the bench counts

| June 2, 2016 1:00 PM

As you read this there remain 159 days until Nov. 8, 2016, Election Day. I’m assuming most of you will be overjoyed when it’s Nov. 9. I know I will.

Springfest is over for another year. Our family all went to the parade Saturday night. Some of the grandkids were participating: Joelee, with her U11 State Cup soccer team (coached by Nick Wallace), And Ellyse and Grady with their mom Allycia marching in support of Superior Court Judge candidate Nick Wallace.

In the midst of all his supporters in a convertible (top down, of course), sat Jordan Reffet and Reed Raymond on either side of Nick Wallace. No flashing lights, no shouting, no hoopla. Just a very qualified candidate doing a nice meet-and-greet.

When I learned that Coach Wallace was going to run for judge, I in some way wanted to help. Putting up yard signs became my job. In order to put a sign on someone’s property you must ask permission. To those who gave me permission, I was assured they were supporting Wallace.

In looking at Nick Wallace’s signs, you will notice the “Experience matters” at the very top. For the 13 years I have known him, I have known him as a great soccer coach donating hundreds of hours to a whole lot of kids. I also knew he was a lawyer.

But what I didn’t know was that Nick Wallace had been serving at the courthouse as a part-time judge for over 10 years. Certainly we are not privy to how those in charge choose someone to be a part-time judge. I’m sure they did their homework, as they chose Nick Wallace.

So who do you think has the most experience? A part-time judge of 10 years, or a full-time judge of less than 10 months? Is there any doubt?
