MOSES LAKE — Volunteers are being sought to help repackage and distribute food to needy families in the Moses Lake area July 28. The 2nd Harvest mobile food bank will be distributing donated food from noon to 2 p.m. at the Head Start building, 1402 East Craig St.

Volunteers will be asked to come a little earlier to help pack food and stay a little later to clean up, said Jack Eaton, general manager of the Microsoft data center in Quincy. Microsoft is partnering with 2nd Harvest and other local businesses to sponsor visits from the food bank to communities around the Grant County. This is the second visit to Moses Lake.

Family Services of Grant County (which sponsors Head Start) and OIC of Moses Lake and Yakima are among the sponsors for the July 28 distribution.

Second Harvest has distributed food in Quincy, Ephrata, Warden and Mattawa as well as Moses Lake. Distributions usually include donated fresh foods, canned or frozen foods.

No appointment or documentation is necessary. Participants are asked to provide a box for their food.

People who want to volunteer can contact Eaton, 509-387-7059, or jeaton@microsoft.com.
