7 injured in Ephrata accident

EPHRATA - Seven people were injured in a two-vehicle collision in Ephrata Wednesday night.

About 5:45 p.m. Ephrata police were dispatched to a report of a vehicle prowl in progress in northeast Ephrata. Officers responded and located the suspect vehicle, a Dodge Durango, according to Grant County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Kyle Foreman. The male driver of the Durango took off and started heading south on D Street Northeast and reportedly failed to stop at the Division Avenue East stop sign.

The Durango crashed into a Chevrolet pickup truck occupied by two adults and a young child in the Division Avenue/D Street intersection. The Durango rolled onto its side and came to a rest against a power pole, while the Chevy crashed into the garage portion of a nearby house.

The four occupants of the Durango were taken to a local hospitals. The male driver of the Chevy was transported to Samaritan Hospital for treatment. The adult female and young child in the truck received life-threatening injuries and were transported to local hospitals. The section of road was closed for several hours as deputies investigated the accident. Foreman said he expects more information to be released later today.
