Boy, 12, arrested for gun possession

MOSES LAKE — A suspicious persons report in Moses Lake over the weekend resulted in police contacting a 12-year-old boy who reportedly had a gun and a spring-loaded knife.

About 9:45 p.m. on Sunday a man contacted police to report three shadows in the back of his property in 1100 block of South Ashley Way. Officers responded to the suspicious persons report and allegedly found three juvenile boys in the area, according to police records.

When one of the boys got up an officer allegedly spotted the butt of a gun in his waistband. The 12-year-old suspect was searched for weapons and police reportedly found the gun in his waistband, along with a spring-loaded knife. The boy was arrested and booked into the Grant County Juvenile Detention facility for unlawful possession of a firearm and possession of a dangerous weapon, according to police records.
