Xtreme wins U14 Class B state championship, heads to Oregon for regionals

RICHLAND — Columbia Basin Xtreme made their mark in Washington, winning the ASA under-14 Class B softball state tournament last weekend at Columbia Playfields in Richland. Now the elite team will take on some of the best softball teams in the country this weekend at the Pacific Northwest Regionals in Beaverton, Ore., this weekend. The Xtreme go into the regional tournament with a 32-9-1 record, coming off a 5-0 showing at the state tournament to advance. Columbia Basin defeated Attack Fastpitch (Centralia/Chehalis) 8-2 in the title game. The Xtreme was nursing a 2-1 lead going into the sixth inning, before exploding with six runs to blow the game open. Crystal Vela had a 2-RBI double. Jayce Heston drove in three runs with a triple. Chantel Durfee, Chenoa Louie and Jocelyn Eisen had two hits apiece in the championship game. Rylee Peters went the distance in the circle.

Xtreme 9, Attack Fastpitch 8 (semifinals) The Xtreme used a four-run sixth inning to come from behind and defeat Attack Fastpitch. Eisen's two-RBI triple gave Columbia Basin the lead after trailing for much of the game. Peters and Eisen had two hits apiece. Eisen got the win in the circle, allowing only two hits in four innings in relief.

Xtreme 9, Ellensburg Synergy 1 (quarterfinals) Crystal Vela led the offense going 2-for-3 with a triple and two-RBI. Makayla Sanchez and Teyah Glenn had two hits apiece. Peters went the distance in the circle, allowing just two hits.

Xtreme 6, NW Thunder (Vancouver) 4 The Xtreme upended NW Thunder (Vancouver), coming from behind to tie the game after trailing early 4-0. Xtreme scored two runs in the top of the seventh and made it stand up for the win. Peters went the distance in the circle, scattering six hits. Glenn, Louie and Eisen each had two hits apiece to pace the offense.

Xtreme 20, Washington Angels-Barcomb 3 The Xtreme opened the tournament with a big win over the Washington Angels-Barcomb 20-3. Louie led the hit parade going 4-4 with three doubles. Paige Wood, Jayce Heston, Crystal Vela and Jocelyn Eisen each had 2 hits. Eisen went the distance, allowing only three hits.
