Thanks to firefighters and neighbors for lifesaving response

| July 14, 2016 1:41 PM

Sunday night, July 3, there was a huge brush fire off Division Street and Nelson Road in Moses Lake. I am so appreciative of the efforts of the Moses Lake Fire Department and Grant County Fire District No. 5 who came so quickly with personnel and equipment to fight the fire and get it under control. There were no injuries nor significant property loss. How very fortunate for all of us that were involved. I will forever be grateful for the skill of all these people and to all the neighbors who pitched in to help. I am especially thankful to the person(s) who banged on my door shouting, “Get out! Get out!” I do not know your name(s) but I need to let you know that I will forever be indebted to you. I am saddened to read in the Herald that fireworks were possibly the cause. When will we learn that no fireworks are safe? Mine is a story that had the best of all endings under the circumstances. No injuries, minimal property loss; but it could have been so much worse. There are no words that can express my thanks to everyone who helped to resolve this incident with such positive outcomes. Thank you!
